Coated Titanium PTL

Coated titanium PTL with platinum, gold or Ru-Ir layers. Reduces passivation, extends lifetime at high current density.

Products Specifications

For demanding electrochemical applications, we apply platinum (Pt), gold (Au), or ruthenium-iridium (Ru-Ir) coatings onto sintered porous titanium plates and felts. These coatings prevent passivation, reduce contact resistance, and extend service life in high-potential PEM environments — widely used in electrolyzer PTLs, anodes, and catalyst substrates.

1Product Overview

2Material & Manufacturing

Titanium combines an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio with excellent corrosion resistance in oxidizing, chloride-rich, and acidic environments. The passive oxide film that forms naturally on its surface self-repairs when scratched, which is why titanium components are specified in marine, chemical processing, and electrochemical applications where stainless steel fails prematurely. Grades commonly supplied include commercially pure GR1, GR2, and alloyed GR5 (Ti-6Al-4V), each balancing formability, strength, and weldability for different duty cycles.

At TOPTITECHS, every titanium product is manufactured from certified mill material with full traceability to the original ingot. Dimensional inspection, surface finish control, and mechanical testing follow ASTM standards relevant to the product form, so the delivered component matches the drawing and the datasheet. This material governance is the foundation of consistent performance in demanding service.

7Where This Product Fits

Sheet, strip, foil, and perforated forms offer design freedom: they can be stamped, formed, welded, or laminated into final assemblies while retaining the material’s corrosion and thermal properties. Tight thickness tolerance matters for electrochemical and heat-transfer designs, where every micron affects performance.

Surface finish options (mill, pickled, polished, bright-annealed) and custom widths or coil weights allow processors to minimize scrap and match downstream equipment.

How to select: specify alloy, thickness and tolerance, width/length or coil form, surface finish, and mechanical property requirements. For electrochemical or thermal designs, provide operating temperature and current density so we recommend the correct temper and finish.

8FAQ

What thickness range is available?

Foil from 0.05 mm up to plate of 30 mm and above, with tolerances matched to downstream processing (stamping, welding, electrochemical use).

What surface finish options exist?

Mill, pickled, polished, and bright-annealed surfaces are offered; for electrochemical use, surface roughness can be specified to maximize contact area.

Why coat porous titanium?

Coatings prevent oxide passivation and reduce contact resistance, extending lifetime at potentials above 1.8 V.
