Products Specifications

Φ25mm Grade1/TA1 Pure Titanium Bar

Overview

The Φ25mm Grade1/TA1 pure titanium bar is a turned-finish solid titanium round bar that marks the entry point to medium-diameter structural and equipment components. Manufactured from industrial pure Grade 1 titanium (TA1 per GB/T 3620.1, ASTM Grade 1 / UNS R50250) with titanium content exceeding 99.5%, this bar combines uncompromised corrosion resistance with the highest ductility of all commercially pure titanium grades.

Stocked as a turned solid bar in a 3000 mm full length with the option of custom segment cutting, the Φ25mm diameter is the go-to material for marine anti-corrosion brackets, pharmaceutical reactor fittings, MRI non-magnetic instrument frames, and chemical process equipment structural components. The turned surface provides a clean, scale-free finish ready for machining and fabrication, establishing this corrosion resistant titanium rod as a dependable stock material for marine and pharmaceutical plant service.

Material Specification and Chemical Composition

The Φ25mm TA1 pure titanium bar conforms to GB/T 2965 and ASTM B348 for titanium and titanium alloy bars. Chemical composition is strictly maintained within the following limits:

ElementTi (base)FeOCNHOther (total)
Requirement≥99.5%≤0.15%≤0.15%≤0.05%≤0.03%≤0.015%≤0.40%

The fully annealed microstructure consists of equiaxed alpha-phase grains in a hexagonal close-packed arrangement with well-controlled grain size. The exceptionally low interstitial element content ensures maximum plasticity, excellent cryogenic toughness, and the best weldability of the commercially pure titanium grades.

Corrosion Resistance

The spontaneously regenerating TiO₂ passive oxide film provides exceptional corrosion immunity in aggressive industrial environments:

Excellent resistance: seawater and marine atmospheres (corrosion rate <0.001 mm/year, no pitting or crevice corrosion), chloride-rich brines, nitric acid, acetic acid, citric acid and other organic acids, dilute alkalis at ambient temperature, humid industrial air, hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorite solutions, food-grade and pharmaceutical process media.

Incompatible media (avoid): hydrofluoric acid (HF), hot concentrated hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, anhydrous dry chlorine gas, hot fuming nitric acid, molten strong alkalis.

Applications of Φ25mm TA1 Titanium Bar

The Φ25mm TA1 pure titanium rod is a practical structural size for medium-duty corrosion-resistant components:

  • Marine anti-corrosion brackets — structural support brackets, mounting plates, and connection hardware for seawater piping, valve assemblies, heat exchanger frames, and offshore platform ancillary equipment.
  • Pharmaceutical reactor fittings — agitator shaft extensions, baffle support rods, dip-tube guides, and internal structural components for GMP-compliant pharmaceutical reactors and sterile processing vessels.
  • MRI non-magnetic instrument frames — structural members, mounting rails, and support frameworks for magnetic resonance imaging equipment and other magnetically sensitive instrumentation where ferromagnetic materials are prohibited.
  • Chemical process equipment structural parts — vessel internal supports, distributor-tray hardware, demister-pad support grids, and column-internals for distillation, absorption, and stripping towers.
  • Electrolyser structural components — tie-rods, cell-frame connectors, bus-bar supports, and structural framing members for industrial water electrolysis and chlor-alkali membrane cells.

Fabrication Guidelines

Machining: Use titanium-grade carbide tooling at low speed (20–30 m/min), positive rake geometry, and abundant water-soluble coolant. The soft TA1 alloy demands sharp tools to avoid built-up edge and work hardening.

Cold forming: Excellent — the Φ25mm bar accepts bending, heading, and cold forging. Annealing (670–720 °C) after significant cold work restores full ductility.

Welding: GTAW (TIG) using ER Ti-1 filler wire with full argon shielding of the weld pool, heat-affected zone, and root. Joint integrity and corrosion resistance match the parent bar.

Hot working: 800–900 °C under vacuum or argon protection. Air exposure above 400 °C leads to rapid interstitial contamination; all hot working must be fully inert-shielded.

Annealing: 670–720 °C, 30–120 min, air cool, in vacuum or inert gas atmosphere. Commercially pure titanium exhibits no quench-hardening response.

Key Usage Precautions

  • Fluorine-containing media: Prohibit any contact with HF or fluoride-bearing fluids; passive film destruction causes severe localized corrosion.
  • High-temperature processing: Argon or vacuum shielding mandatory above 400 °C; atmospheric gases cause rapid embrittlement.
  • Hydrogen embrittlement: Control hydrogen levels in stressed structural components; hydrogen can cause delayed cracking in titanium under sustained tensile loads.
  • Galvanic corrosion: Isolate titanium components electrically from dissimilar metals (carbon steel, aluminium, copper alloys) with non-conductive gaskets or sleeves.
  • Cutting fluids: Use only chlorine-free water-based coolants; halogenated or sulphur-bearing cutting fluids are strictly forbidden.
